Core Features
- Privacy-First Design: All user data is stored locally on the device. The app does not have its own cloud storage or servers, giving users complete control over their data. The only cloud storage is an optional opt-in to Google Drive for backup.
- Dexcom Integration: Automatically updates with the latest available glucose values from your CGM.
- Blood Glucose Logging: Easily log your glucose readings throughout the day.
- Meal logging: You can log any meal you eat with or without bolus.
- Meal Impact Tracking: When you log your food you’ll see a visual representation of how it affects your glucose levels with a Meal Response Curve. Includes live notification and widget support.
- Bolus only Tracking: You can log bolus dosages without a meal (correction dosages) and GluClue will give you updates on your Insulin On Board through a notification or widget.
- Popcorn Calculator: A built-in feature to help you quickly calculate carbohydrates for popcorn based on kernels or servings. If you ever looked at the nutrition label on popcorn you will quickly see how useful this feature is.
- Wake Up Time: When you enter the time you wake up, GluClue will give you Morning Glucose values to help you understand your 3-day, 7-day, 14-day and 30-day morning glucose averages. This is great for users that take long acting insulin before bed.
- Personalized Insights: GluClue provides insights and trends to help you understand your glucose patterns over time.
- Pattern Detection: Looks at historical data from your glucose values, meals, insulin, weather and tries to identify patterns in your highs or lows (especially over night).
- Robust export and backup options: You can export to a local storage as a CSV or JSON file, or opt to sign in with your Google account and backup to Google Drive. Also supports automatic local backups every 2-days with a 7-day retention of older backup files.
- Nerd loving Statistics: For those that just love numbers, we have a Statistics page just for you.
- Recurring Meals: GluClue will suggest previously entered meals when you begin typing to add a new meal saving you time.
- Medication Reminders and Tracking: You can add your daily medications to GluClue with reminders to take or skip them. This data will be shown in the daily log and has tight integration with the Pattern Detection feature to look for any patterns.
Key Functions & Settings
- Customizable Time-in-Range: Set your own target glucose range in the settings, with a default of 80-180 mg/dL, to see a personalized view of your time in range on charts and reports.
- Morning Wake-Up Detection: GluClue attempts to automatically log your wake-up time by detecting when you first unlock your phone in the morning. This helps you track and understand your fasting glucose patterns. Some phone makers don’t support this, so GluClue will default to entering your Wake Up time the first time you launch the app in the morning (within 2-hr of the wake time you set) and you can manually enter or edit Wake Up time too.
- Health Report PDF Export: Generate a shareable PDF summary of your key health metrics to bring to office visits with your healthcare provider.
- Trends: This is the day-to-day snapshot of a user’s blood glucose. Its purpose is to show what is happening right now and over a short period. It’s for quick, immediate review. A user would check this screen to see their recent readings, how their Time in Range is holding up for the day or week, and get instant feedback on their latest meal or insulin dose. The chronological list of readings is the most important part of this screen.
- Statistics: This is the long-term report card. Its purpose is to show how well a user is doing over an extended period, like the last 90 days. It aggregates data to give a big-picture view of their control. A user would check this screen to share with a doctor or to see their overall progress. Metrics like the A1C Estimate, GMI, and Insulin Effectiveness Analysis are perfect for this screen because they show high-level performance, not just a list of recent numbers.
- Pattern Insights: This is the analytical engine. Its purpose is to explain the why behind the data. It goes beyond simple statistics to find correlations and connections. This is where the weather, holiday, and other factors you discussed would live. This screen would answer questions like, “Why do my blood sugars go up on rainy days?” or “Is there a specific time of day when I tend to go high?” It provides actionable intelligence that helps the user make informed decisions to improve their control.
- Morning Glucose: This page keeps track of your fasted glucose values first thing in the morning. This average is often used by insulin users, especially when they first start taking basal shots at night.
NOTE: Dosing decisions should not be made based on this app.
